Roots
As we reach out to the skies, O Lord, help us to send our roots deeper and deeper.
As we branch out into the world, O Lord, help to send our roots deeper and deeper.
As we produce our fruit, O Lord, help us to send our roots deeper and deeper.
We pray these things, O Lord, because down deep is where we find the water and nutrients that give us life and because down deep is where we find the foundation that keeps us from being toppled over by pride and self-congratulation.
Amen.
