O God,
Remind us that when we touch someone, we leave a mark.
If our touch hurts,
we leave a scar—
a reminder of the pain that we inflicted.
If our touch helps,
we leave an impression—
a reminder of the care we provided.
If we don’t touch,
we leave nothing—
a reminder that we did nothing.
Give us grace to touch others and to do so in ways
that help
and
that don’t hurt.
Amen.
