Thirteenth Day of Lent
O God,
On the one hand, don’t let our repentance show. Don’t let us walk around with a frowning face and a dismal attitude as if to say to the world, “Look at me! I’m repenting! I’m spiritual!” Don’t let us engage in repentance in order to be seen by people. Instead, let our repentance be between you and us.
On the other hand, let our repentance show. Let it show in a positive change in our motives, in our attitudes, in our perspectives, and in our actions. Let it show in the ways that we behave toward you, toward others, and toward ourselves. Let our repentance be between us and everyone and everything that we encounter.
Amen.
