O God,

Let our first thought
be of understanding and
not of judgment.

Let our first feeling
be of compassion and
not of apathy.

Let our first word
be of encouragement and
not of discouragement.

Let our first action
be of help and
not of avoidance.

Let our first loyalty
be to you and
not to ideology.

Let our first concern
be for others and
not for ourselves.
