The Lord’s Day
O God,
I’m traveling today, so I’m not preaching.
Many of my friends are, though.
They are proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ, the One who came
not to be served but to serve, who emptied himself and took the form of a
servant, who came to proclaim good news to the poor and liberty to the
captives, who taught us to love you with all we are and our neighbors as
ourselves, and who told us to take up our crosses and follow him.
Some of my friends are addressing people who are devastated and
despairing after last Tuesday’s presidential election.
Some of them are addressing people who are triumphant and celebrating
after the same election.
Some of them are addressing congregations that are divided between the
two reactions.
Help them all, O God. And, in all situations, Lord, have mercy.
Amen.
