Both, Part 8
O God,
Help us both to remember and to forget.
Help us to remember our past sins and mistakes to the extent that we need to learn from them; help us to remember so as not to commit the same sins or make the same mistakes.
But help us to forget them in the sense that when we remember them we do not dwell on them and we are not overcome by guilt or regret over them; help us to forget them in the same way that you have forgotten them—to forgive ourselves as you have forgiven us.
Amen.
