Drag (Part One)

O God,

Please don’t let me be a drag.

Don’t let me be someone
who impedes progress;
don’t let me be the one
who stands in the way of
a good plan or of its execution.

Don’t let me be someone
who gets in the way of enjoyment;
don’t let me be the one
whose attitudes and actions
turn a good time into a bad time.

Don’t let me be someone
who offers resistance or creates friction;
don’t let me be the one
whose narrowness slows down
forward movement.

Don’t let me be a drag, O God.

Instead, let me be someone
who fosters progress,
who joins in the party, and
who helps good movements

to move.

Amen.
