O God,
Help us to want what is best.
Help us to want what is best for us.
Help us to seek your will for our lives
and then, having arrived at our best
understanding of your will, to do it.
Help us to want what is best for us
in terms of our service and sacrifice more than
in terms of our success and comfort.
Help us to want what is best for others
even more than we want what is best for us.
Help us to put the needs of
others ahead of our needs.
Help us to think of others more
than we think of ourselves.
Help us, insofar as we are able,
to want what is best for all.
Help us always to want what is best
for the person right in front of us.
Help us to want what is best.
Help us to do what we can
to help the best happen …
